As fine as finely sliced zucchini.

March 6, 2011

So I had this incredible + mindblowing bowl of noodles the other day.  The noodles sat snug in a dark red bowl, completely hidden beneath (i) a generous serving of some frigging dark-coloured tasty mincedpork thingy and (ii) a fat beaming green bunch of freshly and finely sliced zucchini.  I’m talking about like, about 1.5mm x 1.5mm x 3inches LBH proportions, that’s how fine, alright.

Now, the noodles.  When you coax them out from under its shelter, they initially emerge as though unwilling.  They are fair, thin, and relaxed; as opposed to the wound-up ramen type.  Gradually, as you navigate around the bowl and tease the noodles around, they adopt the darkness of the flavourful mincedpork thingy.  There is even the considerate addition of a little broth at the bottom of the bowl to ensure minimum friction as you persuade the noodles onto your chopsticks (and/or spoon).  The noodles are appropriately sluggish, and not overly so – they do not clump together, and are distinct enough for us to select a bunch and not have parasite noodles clinging on, if you know what I mean.  This could very well be the epitome of pliancy, I reckon.

The intensity of the flavours, and the whole noodle experience, let me tell you – as good as V’s fireworks.  And oh, when you subsequently consume the chilled, finely-cut zucchinis – you taste clarity and a burst of light.  Just pure, clear, clean crispness.  So terrifically light in the midst of darkness.  So beautifully juxtaposing.  So poetically fresh.

I cannot bring myself to write anymore.  It is too painful.  I shall stop this bout of self indulgence right now and like, go watch some junior masterchef or something.
