Beautiful things can come from the dark.

July 25, 2009

It’s 5am and I’m typing this because I had one of the most memorable conversations ever. It was thought provoking, I wriggled my toes, and I was Read. Like how Books usually are.

It’s more than it being unexpected. It was Simply Surprising.

I’m Only Passing By.

July 23, 2009

Taken from Pixadus.

1. The Antlers. Their new album, Hospice, is nothing less than Stellar with a capital, bold & underlined S. I say album, because each song is a moment within the minute; the chocolate chip within the chocolate chip cookie; the keys in the keyboard – you get my drift. Each song is made perfect in Hospice’s themed approach, which makes the album even tighter and more wholesome, somehow. It’s such a joy to listen to – even if the theme is really about separation and death.

2. The Antlers.

3. The Antlers.

Wait for it.

4. The Antlers.

5. Oh all right. Hmm. Salty Popcorn!

7. Ayam Penyet. There’s no turning back now. This is my favouritest lunch. I’ve been having Ayam Penyet on a weekly basis (sometimes twice a week, too) – and its simply smashing.

8. Spider-Man: Blue. I’m rather surprised myself. My first graphic novel (aside from Tin Tin) and I am completely won over. It was unexpectedly witty and moving, and I certainly did not expect that from a graphic novel. Good stuff. As good as Ayam Penyet (and that’s saying alot).

9. Google Reader. Shizzawesome.

10. Jimmy Gnecco. He has amazingly raw, shizzawesome vocals. And it’s really sad that he and his band (Ours) just dont seem to get the recognition they deserve. Seriously. Arghhhangry!

11. Bonus, because I’m currently having my first listen to Muse’s new single United States of Eurasia and I just got shocked out of my skin by a very Queenslike choral outburst. No shizz. And now, an arabic melody that reeks of a Maksim transition. Ok stop. Halt. Now they’ve gone to include Chopin’s Nocturne No. 9. Not that I’m name-dropping cos I can, but really – I am amazed. WHAT IS GOING ON! And whaddaya know, the song’s just ended. You’ve just had the privilege of witnessing my typed response to the first hearing of Muse’s new single. Well then. Goodbye and goodnight.

/Edit: I beg your pardon. I read elsewhere that it’s actually Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2, to be more accurate. Close enough lah hor!

//Edit: SHIT I JUST PUT SOME INFORMATION TOGETHER AND BLIMEY! Grand Archives, Zero 7 and Sondre Lerche – THEY ARE ALL GONNA RELEASE THEIR ALBUMS ON SEPTEMBER 8. What are the odds, really?

OKTHXBYE!

HEARTBEAT RADIO FTW.

July 8, 2009

Sondre!September is going to be awesome. :)

I’m listening to the premiere of Heartbreak Radio on Stereogum, and you should too. Now. His songwriting is as awesomely spot on and genius-like as ever; in fact possibly even more so. Sondre iz a lyrical smartypants. I ♥ ♥ ♥ Heartbreak Radio. Simply cannot wait for the rest of the tracks to leak out to lay my hands on his album sia.

VECKATIMEST FTW.

July 4, 2009

I can hardly believe it myself – HMV has finally heeded my pleas and have finally, FINALLY, bloody  F I N A L L Y woken up their idea and stocked Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest cd.  Been rubbing my grubby hands in glee and listening to it almost every night ever since I got it – its bloody good shizz.  Sibeh shiok.  They should stock their first cd too damnit.  Grr.  Grrizzly.

There’s just something about her hair and the pose. Love it.

And here’s one more picture for this post, just because.

Found on ffffound.

Nothing like awesome finds that make the daily grind slightly more bearable.  That, and awesome people, things, music and stuff.  Makes you more appreciative of life and its possibilities albeit its fleetingness.  Damnit realised my whole post reeks of two-spaces-after-fullstop-OCD.  Wonder where I got that turgid habit from.  Ugh!

P.S. What the heck, it’s already July 2009 – Independence day to be exact.  Good grief it’s going to be 2010 soon.  And a decade would have passed since the 2000 end-of-the-world worrywarts, eh.  Anyways, 2009 is coming to a close.  Like ALREADY.  This kinda thing just creeps up so stealthily.  No warning one lor.  Hmpft!
