Powder Blue.

October 31, 2007

This semester, has been simply choke-full of surprises.

In retrospect, it was an warm and lovely birthday, despite.

Yeah, despite.

Thank you all for being so awesomely sweet and nice. I don’t deserve your extravagance and effort. I appreciate them immensely. :)

EDIT: ANDDDD of course, you too, Jason. For calling all the way from Manchester. You rock lah. :)))

Many ♥ to everyone!

And we’ll all float on okay.

The sky is the limit – especially in a photograph.

October 28, 2007

I should probably end off with some arty farty one-liner, but I can’t think of any. Oh well. It’s a nice picture, innit.

Bye.

/Edit: Funky heading was donated by hui. ;)

Interpret this however you like.

October 19, 2007

I passed by the artsy walkway in citylink today. You know, the one where they have vague and abstract art forms at one side of the corridor that leads to the esplanade underground. The first cubicle of art along the corridor, however, wasn’t really art. It was more like an advertisement for Ritzenhoff. There were, among other items, a display of various Ritzenhoff glasses.

And then, the familiar strains of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (the Christina Aguilera version, of course) began to play on my mp3 player. Surround sound style.

I think I stood staring at the display and listening to Christina Aguilera, for quite a while.

How absolutely coincidental that simultaneous act of events.

More Sondre.

October 17, 2007

Thelastjellybean, at this rate, is going to turn into a tribute place for Sondre Lerche.

My morning became very good after reading his latest entry -

Hey friends and people who are astray on the wwweb and have stumbled across this site by pure coincidence!I just got back home after playing on Letterman and I had a ball. What a great, weird setting be performing a song I wrote in bedroom/livingroom a year ago. But all the more fun! In a couple of wee hours the whole affair will be spread out through the many (ironic understatement) TV sets across America.

David L. was just like on TV, a real a gentleman. The audience seemed cheerful and gay when I started strumming (not that they have much choice – they clap and wolf whistle on command – so maybe they secretly hated my song?) Overall, the show was highly amusing, except that it’s freakin unusually cold in the studio.

And I must say I was bummed out someone funny like Paris Hilton weren’t among the guests, but all in all it was fine afternoon for sensitive singer/songwriters from Bergen, Norway.

Now I’m off to catch the great Regina Spektor in concert. As some of you may already know, Regina was kind enough to lend her fabulous talents to one of the songs I wrote for Dan In Real Life, “Hell No”. She really made my week that week and if for some odd reason you haven’t heard any of her stuff, you are simply mad and should approach yourself with caution.

Another woman I am mad abou right now is singer/songwriter extrodinaire Sylvie Lewis. My Good! I don’t even have time to start going on about her, so I’ll do it next time, but be warned: she’s the shit! If you take any of what I write here seriously, you’ll check her out so we have more to talk about next time.

Thanks for checking in!

I just like the effortless way he writes. SRSLY.

Why I Love Sondre.

October 14, 2007

“As these words leave my fingertips and penetrate the 0’s and 1’s to find you randomly lit in front of the screen, I’ve spent a week in LA singing, sighing and shaking hands with Hollywood.”

[SHOUTOUT TO HUI: WE ARE SO RIGHT! SONDRE IS NORWEIGN AND HE SIGHS! WITH HIS HANDS! HAHAHAHA!]

—-

“…Anyway, in addition to me walking around Oslo, this video finds me having a somewhat bleak day. I get beat up twice. A pit-bull attacks me (sort of) and then some mystical cool kid shoots me, sending me backwards through all the different scenarios I’ve encountered previously in the flick.

It’s a fairly physical flick also. Besides taking punches from every camera angle you can imagine, I do a lot of crawling around in the dirt and the dust.

And as you probably can imagine, I feel that with this performance I’ve expanded my horizon as an actor, and pushed myself to greater and more challenging heights. I am actually considering auditioning as a stand-in for the Blue Man Group when I get back to New York, as I’ve painted my body blue to cover up the bruises I got from those fight scenes. It is really compromising the white walls in my mother in law’s house.

But I tell her, that’s showbiz.

As the old saying goes: I’ve suffered for my art. Now it’s your turn.”

And that’s why I’ll always love Sondre. His lyrics and punchlines are ♥

Something Hilarious.

October 12, 2007

This just made my day, seriously.

First, it’s done to the music of Spoon. Secondly, it’s just plain hilarious.

This, too.

I now aspire to have such abrupt spurts of movement.

Pain.

October 7, 2007
And when I see you
I really see you upside down
But my brain knows better
It picks you up and turns you around
Turns you around
Turns you around

If you feel discouraged
When there’s a lack of color here
Please don’t worry lover
It’s really bursting at the seams
Absorbing everything
The spectrum’s A to Z

This is fact, not fiction
For the first time in years
All the girls in every girlie magazine
Can’t make me feel any less alone
I’m reaching for the phone

To call at 7:03
And on your machine, I slur a plea
For you to come home
But I know it’s too late
I should have given you a reason to stay
Given you a reason to stay
Given you a reason to stay
Given you a reason to stay

This is fact, not fiction
For the first time in years.

Death Cab for Cutie  – A Lack of Colour

I hope I can convince myself eventually that it’s for the better, too.

Some things are just too good to last.

The Killers – Exitlude.

October 4, 2007

Aggressively, we all defend the role we play
Regrettably, the time’s come to send you on your way.
We’ve seen it all: from bonfires of trust to flashfloods of pain.
It doesn’t really matter, don’t you worry it will all work out.
No it doesn’t really matter, don’t worry, that ain’t what it’s all about.

We hope you enjoyed your stay
And it’s good to have you with us
Even if it’s just for the day
We hope you’ve enjoyed your stay
Outside the sun is shining
It seems like heaven ain’t far away
Its good to have you with us
Even if it’s just for the day

However you choose to interpret it, it’s still a beautiful, beautiful song.

School is the route to a slow and painful death, y’all.
