Hungry.

September 27, 2006

Its 4.31pm on my only free day of the week.

I’m sure there’s something wrong with my tummy these couple of days because I keep wanting to eat. And eat. And eat.

Mongkok Rocks.

Its pretty happening. I like it. I like how the crowd spills onto the roads, how some roads doubles as an extended walkway at night because there are just too many people. I like how the little street food restaurants have such cheap and delicious-looking food. There are just so many eating places to try. :) How deeply satisfying, that thought.

Street side food, is awesome. :)

Its greasy, possibly very unhygenic, but oh so tasty and delicious :)

Damn shiok lah.

.

Anyways. Congrats to Cheese!! New job eh! Lookin’ forward to some 9-course dinner treat when I return okay! Heh.

.

Thinkin’ about the past month that has just went by, I guess I’m really thankful that I’m settling down really well. Friends, school and all. :)

Ah, but schooling here still makes me nervous.

Although the structure of the schooling system is quite similar to NUS, there is still the language barrier that I have to cross.

I actually feel like ths dumbest person in the tutorial whenever the tutor lapses into cantonese. This, is truly what the insider-outsider effect means. So what if I have yellow skin and black hair? I can’t really understand cantonese, much less cantonese in academic terms.

And the worst part is when the student who’s doing the week’s presentation, passes out newspaper articles in chinese and asks us to critique them.

Like. Ohmurdermenow.

How to read chinese, I ask you? Newspaper article somemore wor.

I felt at such a loss.

Thank goodness the person whom I’m going to do a mini-presentation with, was next to me and helped to patiently translate and explain. Phew. Really nice fella. Thanks dude.

.

Uncle Marcus is probably flying back to SG now. I sigh. Homeeee.

He’s hilarious. He thinks he’s our guardian. He warns us about guys; i.e. he tells us who to watch out for, who has that kinda face, and whatever. And before he left, he again told us to beware of smelly old men and certain ah, people. Pity he can’t go with us to the Land of Chicken Rice. Would’ve been a blast.

I just can’t wait to get my hands on more milo when he returns. Heh.

.

O joy. More readings. I think for once, I’m actually keeping up quite well with my readings and school, in general.

Gasp. Horror of horrors.

Laters gators.

Let’s see.

September 24, 2006

I feel that I should hit in an entry today. But I’m not sure about what.

Let’s see.

School has just started for real, which means tutorials have started, which means that I have to organize my stuff and read so that I won’t get killed during tutorials.

Its a little freaky because tutorial classes are so small (like, max 10 people) and everyone sits around a table to uh, discuss. Die die also have to talk some shit each week.

I’m fabulously lazy.

Anyhoo. We’ve decided to make use of the long weekend next week, to taste authentic hainanese chicken rice. :)

Apparently, hainan island has some really beautiful beaches and gorgeous forests and stupendous scenary. The sands are sparkling white, the water is clear, and snorkling is highly recommended, just because.

I never knew that about hainan.

Let’s see what else I will glean from the lovely beaches and scenary in hainan.

.

I’ve been snacking alot. And as a result, I’ve gained some weight. Smirk.

.

Do you know? Its been a month already. I’ve more or less settled down pretty well. (Except for the laundry part. I always hate doing laundry. Garh. I think its because I’m just fabulously lazy.)

And I’m thankful for the friends that I’ve made so far. :)

I suppose its because we’re all on exchange that’s why we’re all in a rather relaxed, fun-loving, easy mood; constantly making plans for the week, the weekend, the ten-day reading week break, etc etc. Or just doing things spontaneously.

The feeling is just, wheeeee. :)

I dread school, because it might take away that carefree schedules that we all have. Garh.

The standard of English used, makes me uneasy at times.

I wonder if HK students really understand the readings. Hm.

That probably explains why exam questions there are almost the same each year.

Snort.

.

I’m currently listening to Death Cab for Cutie’s Tiny Vessels.

I sigh.

.

I can’t wait for this week of school to fly by so I can sink my toes into some gorgeous white grains of sand. :)

Hope everyone’s doing well.

.

Milo rocks, and so does geog -

Yans.

I need.

September 20, 2006

Some live music, please.

I feel so sleepy right now. It’s probably due to the MSG in the cup noodle I just had.

And I think I better start to go do some readings. Buy them, zap them, and get jiggy with it.

Yawn. I’ll do it tommorow. Heh.

Right now, think I’ll go get some coffee instead.

.

Damn, tomorrow will be a super long day. Garh. :(

I’ve a weird timetable.

Yawn. Coffee. Now. Argh.

What a retarded post.

Yawn.

Wanna die ah?

September 17, 2006

I just watched My Sassy Girl.

And. I love it! :)

AAAAAAAWWWWWWWW.

Okay bye.

Course Selections be d-amned.

September 17, 2006

I think, that I will not complain too excessively about NUS CORS in the future.

Because I’m being driven crazy by the course selections here in HKU. Yuck.

Pui x 1000 times.

Adding/Dropping courses are still relatively okay.

But choosing tutorial slots? Just stab me already.

I won’t even attempt to burden your brain my explaining how’s it like here.

Its just 1000 times more inefficient, more draggy, more sluggishly carried out, and ultimately, more blood-boiling as compared to my dear NUS.

And I think I just got blacklisted by a tutor. Great. Just great.

PPFFFTTAARRGGHHSSIIIGGHHYYUUCCKKPPUUIIIGGRROOAAANNIISSIIGGHHAAGGAAIINN.

Grrrr.

Anyhoo.

I got myself a pair of 5.10 Anasazi Mesa climbing shoes.

Here. Have a look.

Have a closer look.

Go ahead. You know its a damn chio shoe.

Its one of the chio-est shoes I’ve ever seen.

And to top it off, its considered cheap. :)

.

I went to Macau today. :)

Boy, the turbojet ride to and fro, aint’ cheap at all. Crap. :(

But it was fun! Whee. I guess its the company that matters after all – even though we didn’t do much. In terms of the tourist-y agenda that is.

Pictures when I get them from the cameraman.

Sushi tomorrow! Whooeee.

But before that, I have to find something suitable to wear for the damn High Table Dinner.

Grr.

.

I don’t want school to start for real. :(

h1

Its 12:53am.

September 15, 2006

And I had a little masterpiece to show.

Anyways.

We went to Mes Aimes.

Marcus and Mary are missing in that shot.

Water rocks.

End of story.

.

I find it a little weird how everyone makes pacts along the lines of, say, not letting certain things get leaked out once we’re out of a particulary schmoozy place. Like censorship, know what I mean?

Its kinda uncomfortable. But boy, it sure feels much better spitting everything out rather than sieve it out. Whew.

:)

.

Damn, Groove Armada is going to perform in Zouk tomorrow (technically, tonight)! How freakin’ cool is that??

GROOVE ARMADA WOR!!!

Tsk and her bodyguards are going. Sigh. I know it’ll be smashin!

Sob.

.

The formal dress code for this compulsory hall Dinner that we’ve to go to, is ridiculous.

Apparently we have to wear shoes that:
1. Won’t show our toes,
2. Won’t show our ankles,
3. Aren’t boots.

Hm. What kind of shoe covers our toes, ankles, and aren’t boots??

Geez.

And the formal wear, has to be of a “Grand Style”. Like what the heck is a grand style??

Mutters.

Alright I’m off.

Pfft.

You know so well.

September 14, 2006

The other day, I saw a face that I knew so well.

I paused, and wondered for a couple of days; why did that face look so damn familiar?

Then I saw him again.

And immediately, immediately, I knew.

.

.

SONDRE LERCHE!

Yes yes yes.

I saw someone that looked a hell lot like Sondre darling! :)))

Like, right smack in the middle of HKU!

What a coincidence, don’t you think.

He didn’t mention anything about going for exchange on his website. More specifically, exchange to HKU. Pout.

But nevermind. Now I know.

We’re in such close proximity! Tee hee hee.

:)))))

.

I wish cher and hui were here. Babes you can like so practise your french here man. Totally. French dudes are just crazy, yo. They sure know how to parrrrty. Hm. And that’s ’nuff said. For now.

Water is still the best drink on earth.

Blah.

Alright I know this is so bimbotic, but garh. I have yet to find a place to ah, trim my brows! :( Seems like hk girls aren’t into such things. Although some do dress up for school. I don’t like their permed hair though.

Typhoon warning number 3! Whoohoo.

.

School has just started for me, I’m on a tight budget, and I still loathe the shower cubicle. Talking about shower cubicles, there’s this weird hall culture thingy regarding those. I’m not sure if I can explain clearly, but it involves the names of the four shower cubicles and reserving them. Kinda complicated, and I personally think its kinda stupid. Really.

But ah well, hall culture, is culture.

.

Crap I have to get my carton of milk and packet of cheese from the fridge in Level 6 because the cleaning auntie was cleaning the fridge at Level 7. (Which is my floor.)

.

One thing I hate about school here, is printing notes. I have almost next to zero idea where to get these notes from. Some website, I’m sure. But argh. Nevermind.

.

Hong and Marcus are about to invade my room. Will scoot off for now.

Laters, yo.

h1

Yes.

September 13, 2006

Yes. Finland 07 will still be on. :)

Like, freakin’ of course, babe. ‘Vot in ze world were ze f’thinking of!!

We miss you already, JasondamnnoisyandcrazyLin. :(

It feels funny. Although we never really meet that often nowadays.. it still feels weird. Like, damn, something’s that rather constantly around, has gone away.

(Oei dude, honoured bo? Sounds damn mushy lah. Hahaha. I hope you’re feeling peaceful, somehow. Hm. Cuz you’re finally there. After eons of planning, hoping, and all.)

But eh comrade, your India FYP thing, how? Damn confusing wor.

Hmmm.

.

In other news – there’s typhoon warning here! Whoohoo. How exciting is that. The weather has turned pretty colder but I’m lovin’ it. I think I thrive better in authentically cold weather rather than in cold, conditioned air.

I hope everyone back home is fine and dandy. :)

Good goodnight, y’all,

Aqualung roars. :)

Oh, really?

September 9, 2006

Hello there, from HongKongLand.

I’m listening to Ray Charles crooning Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and I’m swaying ever so slightly as I’m typing this.

Lovely. :)

Oh damn, its ending. I shall loop it.

Anyways.

School has sort of started. Although English is supposed to be the medium of instruction, the lecturer still lapses into bouts of cantonese at times. When they want to make a point, or some joke, or to further explain the thingy.

Auurgghhh.

Oh wells.

I feel sleepy but I’m obligated to post some pictures.

Here.

The first picture I took with people in HKU.

I found milo ice cream! Damn excited lah. Haven’t drank milo for like eons. Sigh.
The people here are big on horlicks but not milo. Good grief.

That’s Marcus and Hong. We all irritate the shit out of each other.

Together, we are Hong Kong. Grin.

The laser light show at Avenue of Stars was so boring, we lay down and nearly fell asleep.

Central, seen from the Avenue of Stars at Tsim Sha Tsui.

Another shot of Central.

Inside the mini bus.

View from Victoria Peak. Nice bo? Ahem.

The obligatory individual shot when at Victoria Peak.

Awesome group shot by Mmmmarcus.

On the Peak Tram!

Hmm.

We had our own photo-taking session during the official exchange orientation photo-taking session. Decided we were probably too small to appear on the eventual group shot anyways. 600+ people came to HKU this year just for exchange. Cool huh.

View from Lamma Island. We walked for a solid 2.5 hours – in flip flops. Like brisk walking. Damn tiring ar. But its a beautiful place.

One more for lamma.

I have tons of Lamma shots, but then I’m just lazy to find the best to post it here.

Washing our sandy feet after a brief stop at a Lamma beach. Okay so I forgot the name of the beach. Whateverrrr.

Got bored while waiting for the ferry, at Lamma.

We had a fruit party in my room yesterday. The place smelt of durian for awhile. Hmm.

I’m from Singapore, dudes!

I’ve met quite a bunch of people. Most are really nice, some are damn hamsum, some are hilarious, some you can tease and joke with immediately, and some, are well, ok lor.

Jason – Shucks you’re leaving so damn fast! :(
Won’t you drop by The Land of Tim Sum before you fly off to your Land of Geology?
Damn I won’t see you for eons! Garh. You takecare alright. Packing sucks, I know.

All the best dude. :)

Cher – Eh I saw this GASPARD ULLIEL lookalike today! Seriously. I was like, WHERE’s CHER?? Hehe. I wonder if he’s French? There’s lots of french peeps here, you can practise your french here, yo.

More pictures soon. I’ve been going out alot these days and whenever I’m back in hall, I feel so tired I just want to crash. I absolutely loathe showering because the shower cubicle’s like, the size of my wardrobe. Yes hui, its like stepping into The Wardrobe. Doesn’t bring me to Narnia though, brings me claustrophobic spasms instead.

Okay I’m kidding. I just need some SPACE man. Argh.

Takecare y’all.

I’m going to nap and not snore.

Words are very, unnecessary

September 2, 2006

,sings Depeche Mode in Enjoy the Silence.

I like Ryan Starr’s rendition of that song in Rockstar Supernova actually. :)

I am very sad that he got kicked out. Sigh.

I went to Mongkok again today. Its really crowded. Like. VERY VERY VERY.

I show you.

And.

And that’s just like one crossing hor. The Orchard Road crossing between taka and the ex-hello singtel shop, cannot compare lah.

We went back with tired legs but happy. Neat bargains I tell you.

That’s Li Wei and Huishi. They go to HKUST, though. About an hour-ish away.

The weather, is damn hot.

We were supposed to ham cha, but in the end we went to some lup sup side cafe.

Why lup sup? Because we saw a pimp, his satisfied customers, and uh, his employees.
Like seriously. And we even saw the money changing hands.

Twas a rather, ah, fascinating sight. And all while having our little innocent meal.
Oh well.

.

Hopefully I get sent pictures real soon.  :)
Exchange students are generally friendly and nice to hang out with, man.

.

Laters, yo.
